Organic Barley grass Powder

Our Organic Barley grass Powder is harvested at an organic farm in Europe. The barley grass is harvested when the plant is only 30cm. About 1 to 6 hours after harvesting the barley grass is transported to a certified organic company. Here, they bring down the moist content of the barley grass, after which it is dried and ground into organic barley grass powder. In the end, it is packed and sealed (airtight).

We are always told to eat vegetables, but Barley grass is as nutritious, maybe even more nutritious. The leaves of the barley plant, the plant that is known to make cereal from, can also be eaten. It can be eaten in the form of Barley grass powder. 

It is recommended to add 3 grams of barley grass powder to salads, smoothies, shakes or meal replacements on a daily basis.
Organic barley grass powder should be stored in a cool, dry place.

What is Barley grass Powder?

Most people know what barley grains are, but do not really know what barley grass is. This barley grass, or sometimes called barley green, are the young leaf blade of the plant. The barley grass has been around since about 9,000 years ago when it was first made as food. The grains are today used to make beer and the seeds are also incorporated in many food products. Barley grass itself is also gaining popularity as a vegetable and as a juice.

There is no need to use any pesticides, herbicides, fungicides and other harmful chemicals since they are grown in naturally fertile soils, we do not need to use any artificial fertilizers on it. Our Barley Grass is organically certified by SKAL Biocontrol and is, therefore, EU organic certified.

How is your Barley grass made?

When the barley has reached its jointing stage we harvest the grass. The jointing stage is when all the compounds in the leaves have reached their peak. When harvesting the grass is carefully cut by hand at the base of the plant. After harvesting the grass is cleaned as fast as possible and then sorted for another round of quality checking. We only choose the best grass to use for processing. Within an hour all the chosen leaves are dried and crushed into a fine powder with the use of a freezing air method.
