What is Agave Nectar?
Our Organic Agave Nectar comes from the Agave plant, this plant grows on the volcanic soils and in the desert of Southern Mexico.
The plant is a large and spiky plant, which makes it look like a cactus. But from the inside, this plant is more like an aloe vera.
Agave knows over 100 varieties. The two most popular ones where our agave nectar is made from our Blue Agave and the Maguey Agave. Agave is a better choice than normal sugar or other artificial sweeteners. Agave has the same amounts of calories, but because it is 1.5 times sweeter than sugar you do not have to use much of this. This will help you cut down on calories. Everybody knows that too much of something can be bad too, this is why you should use agave nectar in moderation.
Is your Agave Nectar organic certified?
Yes! We are certified by SKAL and the Agave Nectar we use originate from Mexico. There is no need to use any pesticides, herbicides, fungicides and other harmful chemicals since they are grown in naturally fertile soils, we do not need to use any artificial fertilizers on it. Our Agave Nectar is organically certified by SKAL Biocontrol and is, therefore, EU organic certified.
How is your Agave Nectar made?
At Nutriboost we make sure that our Organic Raw Agave Nectar is sustainably produced. This is done by hiring the most skilled people who use the latest technology to harvest agave. When the plant is harvested, the juice is extracted mechanically from the core of the plant. The juice is then carefully filtered, to make sure it does not contain any solid fibres. After the juice is filtered the inulin chains need to be broken into fructose, this is done by hydrolysis. Hydrolysis is: removing excess water with the use of a high vacuum evaporation. Before the agave nectar is syrup is put in bottles, the remaining carbohydrate is first concentrated.
Agave sap goes through many stages of the process before it is turned into nectar. These stages of the process are extraction, filtering and heating in order to break down the carbohydrates into sugar. At Nutriboost we filterless and it is heated in temperatures under 118 Fahrenheit, these factors give it a raw, strong flavour and its nutritional value fully intact.
