What are apricot kernels?
When Organic Apricot Kernels are ripe they will have a golden orange colour, velvety surface and a mild-sweet taste with a little bit of tartness, just like plums.
Organic Apricots originate from Asia where they grow on small deciduous trees that really thrive when in well-drained sloping soils. In the springtime, the trees produce white-pink flowers which are very beautiful. Apricots have a couple of close relatives which include: nectarine, plums and peaches. The history of the Apricots starts around 60BC in Greece where it was called ‘’golden eggs of the sun’’. Around 4,000 years ago it was a very important food crop in China where it grew on mountain slopes. But Greece was the people who brought apricots to other countries like Armenia, the Mediterranean an to Europe. But only around the 1700s, the apricots were brought to the US, by the Spanish explorers.
Are your apricot kernels organic certified?
Yes! We are certified by SKAL and the almonds we use originate from Turkey. There is no need to use any pesticides, herbicides, fungicides and other harmful chemicals since they are grown in naturally fertile soils, we do not need to use any artificial fertilizers on it. Our Apricot Kernels are organically certified by SKAL Biocontrol and is, therefore, EU organic certified.
How are your apricot kernels made?
At Nutriboost we make sure that our Organic Apricot Kernels do not contain any preservatives or food colouring. Our Organic Apricot Kernels come from Turkey and are as pure as they can be. When apricots are dried they get a brown colour, which looks like raisins. A lot of companies give the apricots an artificial colour to make it more attractive to customers, but at Nutriboost we do NOT use these methods. This because we know that our products are from the best quality when 100% pure.
