Organic Incan Berries
Organic Incan berries grow on a plant which is called the Physalis Peruviana. The Physalis Peruviana is a member of the nightshade family and native to the Amazon regions of South America. Organic Inca Berries are a potent superfood packed with protein. The berry has a yellow colour and is about 1–2 cm in diameter. It is exceptionally sweet on the outside and crammed with crunchy, citrus flavour seeds on the inside. Incan berries are mostly available in the form of a dried fruit, which looks similar in appearance to sultanas.
Incan berries are called Gooseberries when they are fresh and Golden Incan berries when dried. These berries have a great number of nutrients and they still have a delicious taste, which is a sweet-tangy taste.
Dried Inca berries can be used in different ways. You could combine them with other superfoods such as cacao nibs, nuts and an infinite selection of other dried fruits. However, they are also a great addition to homemade trail mix.
What are Incan Berries?
The Inca Berry is originating from tropical South America and they only grow on high altitudes.
The plant where the berries grow on can grow a meter in height. The fruit has a colour which can range from bronze-yellow to a golden colour. The fruit has a small size which can be compared to a raisin. The Inca Berry is, like most superfoods, used for a really long time.
The fruits grow with a paper-thin calyx which covers the fruits and protects it from insects and bird. This cover also makes sure its freshness is saved even when harvested.
Like currants, Inca is not a real berry but part of the botanical family. Before this berry came to Europe it originated from Asia and Africa. At this day there are around 2,000 different types of gooseberry cultivars, but there are only two main types. These types are The American gooseberry and the European gooseberry. These two are special because they are bigger and tastier than the other types of gooseberries.

There is no need to use any pesticides, herbicides, fungicides and other harmful chemicals since they are grown in naturally fertile soils, we do not need to use any artificial fertilizers on it. How are your Incan Berries made?
The drying process has been used for a long time in order to give the food a better shelf-life. With the drying technologies we use nowadays, we can save the nutritional value of food.
Before we start the drying process we have to make sure that all of our berries are from the best quality. This, because the best technology will not be able to turn it into a good quality product.
Nowadays, the golden Incan berries grow in many parts of the world. We at NutriBoost grow our berries in Peru where the berries get processed organically from the beginning till the end product.
After three or four months of flowering, the fruits have reached their maximum ripeness. The fruits then get harvested by shaking the trees to gather fruits with the same ripeness. The berry’s paper-thin calyx cover protects the berry from damage. Water is extracted from the berries because this will cause mould and bacteria. When drying the berries we make sure that the temperature stays around 45 degrees Celsius. With this temperature, we make sure that our berries have their natural flavour and the best nutritional value.
