What are Dates?
There are all types of dates (Phoenix Dactylifera) like Bahri, Dayri, Deglet Noor, Halawy, khadrawy, Medjool, Thoory and Zahidi. There are so many different types because in the 1500s the Spaniard was trying to grow different dates colonies in different places. Dates belong to the palm family and do not have a clear origin, but it is believed that it comes from areas around Iraq.
The Spaniard first brought the seeds to Cuba around the 1500s to make a date colony in Cuba. This failed, because of the rainy weather which negatively affected the quality. In the 1700s they made their way to Mexico and California, where they left a trail of the date palms.
Nowadays, dates are grown in hot climates like Algeria and Mecca.
Are your Dates organic certified?
Yes! We are certified by SKAL and the Dates we use originate from Europe and Tunisia. There is no need to use any pesticides, herbicides, fungicides and other harmful chemicals since they are grown in naturally fertile soils, we do not need to use any artificial fertilizers on it. Our Dates is organically certified by SKAL Biocontrol and is, therefore, EU organic certified.
How are your Dates made?
At Nutriboost our dried dates have no added sugar and do not contain any food colouring additives or preservatives. A lot of dates producers do this, but with our dates, this is not necessary, because our dates have a good taste and look from themselves.
The dates we dry are all picked by hand by lifting workers in picker trucks, so they can be reached. At Nutriboost we make sure that our dates are fully ripe and then they are naturally dried while still attached to the tree. We use this labour intensive method to make sure our product is as fresh as possible and from the best quality.
