Organic Camu Camu is a little known delicious superfruit extract made from camu berries and contains a variety of nutrients. The berries of the fruit are red, purple or green, cherry-sized berries. They grow on a small riverside bush, known as Myrciaria Dubia. They have been enjoyed by Peruvian Indian tribes for centuries and are hand picked and freeze dried in order to retain an optimum number of nutrients and benefits. Camu is a fruit which is packed with around 3-12% vitamin C. This is why the camu fruit almost is unmatched.

What are Camu Berries?

The Camu berry has a color that ranges from reddish brown to dark purple, this depends on the concentration of natural pigment in its skin. It is almost as big as a lemon, but the Camu is flesh and soft. The flesh of the berry is yellow and tastes very sour. It grows in rainforests, swamps and in flooded areas and serves also as food for fish, because of its watery surroundings.

Camu is extremely concentrated. Thus only a small amount is required. It is suitable for vegetarians, vegans, and raw foodies. You can add this delicious fruit to your smoothies and desserts.

How is your Camu made?

The Camu berry is a very delicious food and for these types of fruit the time between harvesting and processing is very important. The short time between harvesting and processing will determine how much nutrients the final product has. The mature berries get carefully picked, and are then placed in coolers to make sure they are not exposed to temperatures higher than 45 degrees. This is also done to make sure that the berries do not lose their nutritional value. Every berry gets inspected very carefully, after which they are washed, peeled, and juiced all by hand. The pulped fruit is then put in a dehydrator which slowly removes the berry’s moisture. After this process, the dried berries are made into a fine powder.
